Stargazing (2024)
New Chamber Ballet
Choreography: Miro Magloire
Composer: Christian-Frédéric Bloquert
Costumes: Sarah Thea

Stargazing is the result of a multi-year collaboration of choreographer Miro Magloire with composer Christian-Frédéric Bloquert.

Bloquert’s score, Memory, Forgot for violin and piano, subtly evokes and pays tribute to two iconic ballets: Tchaikovsky’s Serenade and Stravinsky’s Agon.

Magloire’s choreography similarly conjures an aura of the corresponding Balanchine ballets, without directly quoting them, instead constructing “[a] space to contemplate, not only about the work you’re watching, but about what ballet is.” (Leigh Witchel, dancelog.nyc)

Stargazing was performed in New Chamber Ballet’s signature, in-the-round setup, with the audience seated up close and able to see the kaleidoscopic choreography from various angles.
